Maximize the Wear of your Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses were a huge fashion trend throughout the spring
and summer months and the stylish silhouette has carried into the next season. I
have always been a fan of the dropped hemline and want to don them all year
long. Check out how I can continue to wear some of my sleeveless maxis…even as
the weather gets colder and colder.

When the temperature starts to drop simply just start piling
on the layers. The first layer of this look is a solid black sleeveless cotton maxi
dress. The second is a graphic print 3/4-sleeve raglan top with a high-to-low hem. The
third layer is a black & ivory pattern scarf. The fourth is the ivory tall
leather boots. Each layer synchronizes with what is styled on top of it to create a
complete, cohesive outfit.

Carry the sleeveless floral print maxi slip into the next
season by once again, layering something on top of it. The terracotta orange crochet
sweater belted over the silky printed slipdress extends the wear of it and
gives it the appearance of a skirt. The vivid color of the fine gauge sweater
coordinates and brings out the hue within the vintage floral print on the
bottom.

This is the ultimate long-length look. I topped off my navy
& olive spaghetti strap maxi dress with an ivory & taupe striped
duster. The ivory stripe of the long cardigan corresponds with the subtle
stripe pattern of the skirt; as well as makes the small amount of ivory within
the dress more substantial. I finished off the look with a pair of leather
& suede riding boots to add yet another element of texture – for the dress
has a ribbed knit top & cotton bottom and the cardigan that tops it is
lightweight wool.

Just because it is strapless doesn’t mean it’s strictly for
summer. I simply covered up the silk strapless maxi dress with an ivory
sweater. The deep cowl neckline of the sweater still allows the intricate
sweetheart neckline of the dress to be visible while keeping the shoulders
covered from the cold. The gauzy knit adds a soft touch to the delicate silk
underneath; but the neutral color still allows for the light blue & yellow
plaid skirt to stand-out.

Do you have a sleeveless dress that you want to wear even though
the weather hasn’t warmed up enough?

    • Hi Cici!
Thank you for following my blog. I purchased the duster from Anthropologie, I believe it was around last fall. I hope you find what you’re looking for, please let me know if/when you do!
