I decided to reconstruct Charlize Theron’s monochromatic look seen near the top left of this magazine tear page.
The idea of monochromatic dressing is that you outfit yourself in shades of one color from head-to-toe. This bold concept is a form of color blocking and has been a significant fashion trend during the most recent seasons. People often associate this idea with the color black – but it’s definitely more fun if you play around with other hues like burgundy, plum and pink…or, in this instance – olive.
I chose my olive ‘moto’ skinny jeans and paired it with a drapy olive cotton top similar to the pieces seen on Charlize. The shades do not match perfectly, which adds just the right amount of thoughtful unbalance to the outfit; because, let’s face it – no one dresses matchy matchy anymore. I topped the look with my cognac leather jacket similar to Theron’s. Instead of the strappy heels, I choose cognac shearling leather booties – because it is winter in Chicago after all.
What do you think of wearing one tone from top-to-bottom? Do you have a certain color you dress monochromatically in?
