High-to-low hem lines are going to be huge this spring. Here, I took my Free People ‘Texas’ graphic raglan sleeve top and outfitted it in 3 completely different ways….
This look is all about the layers. Here, the graphic t-shirt is layered over a black sleeveless maxi dress to make it appear as a skirt. (This is a perfect way to extend the wear of a sleeveless dress when the weather hasn’t quite warmed up enough.) A black & ivory pattern scarf, along with ivory leather boots ties the look together.
Pairing the ‘Texas’ raglan top with this delicate ivory lace maxi skirt allows the skirt to be worn in a casual way. Mixed suede & leather riding boots peak out from under the lace…now all this outfit needs to fit-in in the “Lone Star State” is a cowboy hat. (or not!)
A couple of which I mentioned in yesterday’s post, this outfit taps into a number of the trends this season:
- High-to-low hem silhouette
- Mint green skinny jeans
- Color-blocking (subtle in this instance, but still existent)
- Layered Looks
- Mixed-media textures (leather & lace)
What’s your favorite way this super versatile shirt is worn? Are you going to sport the high-to-low style this season?
I was flipping though the pages of this month’s People Style Watch and came across this…
I’m so glad this silhouette is in-style for Spring…and even more excited that I already have the primary piece hanging in my closet –
My Free People red vintage floral print silk kimono top
So, is this trendy top already a part of your wardrobe?
If not, here are a couple kimono-style tops I came across while doing some online browsing at popular shopping sites.

Are you going to embrace this trend for Spring and seek out the popular style? Or are you going to pass up this particular fashion fad in favor of another must-have style for this season?
Perhaps you’re going to purchase some peplum silhouettes, continue to color-block, sport metallic heels, the hue mint green, or go extreme with NEON.
Augh, can the weather just warm up already?…
I was playing around with some pieces in my closet recently and put together this outfit. The combination is a little bit quirky; but there is something about the look I find captivating.
Underneath my soft rust color velvet blazer I layered my light blue silk slip with ivory lace inset. Black near-sheer nylons keep my legs covered while playful ivory ruffle ankle socks peak out from my multi-color leather patchwork booties to complete the look.
Even though the colors do not match exactly, I think the rust and light blue hues in the apparel coordinate with the rich colors throughout the footwear.
What do you think? Would you wear it?
Hey Guys! Sorry for being MIA lately, life has been a little hectic over the last several weeks and I so haven’t been able to dedicate as much time to my blog as I’d like. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like my schedule will let up anytime soon, but I’m really going to try to put more focus on my postings. Anyways. I wanted touch base with you all and see how things are going with your New Year’s closet cleaning challenge! We are about a month and a half in so your closet should be looking something like this by now…
Are you sticking to it? I promise, if you do it will make your spring closet cleaning a whole lot easier! If you didn’t begin back in January it doesn’t hurt to start now. Then, by the time spring rolls around you’ll have an idea of what you wear and can clear out what you don’t…just in time to fill it up again with the new Spring and Summer stuff. Here is a link to the original post if you want to reread about how the challenge works… (https://expressthrudress.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/a-new-years-challenge-cleaning-out-your-closet/)
A major component of Women’s Wear Daily over the past week and a half has been the Menswear Collections coming out of Paris and Milan. Here are a couple clippings of what designers are showing off on the runway for their Fall 2012 collections…
I love Etro’s look that combines all the different prints.
Augh, Mr. Missoni’s look further solidifies my love for the designer label; regardless of if it’s men’s or women’s the line can do no wrong in my eyes! Mr. Cavalli isn’t looking too bad either. ;)
(Side note: Doesn’t that look like Spencer Pratt on the left??)
Can you pick out some of the reoccurring trends for this season within the different designers. Which ones do you think will convert from the catwalk to the city sidewalks? Here’s what the experts say…
I spot a lot of:
- Double-breasted jackets
- Shorter, tapered pant legs to expose
- Mixing of textures
- Rich colors
- Playing with patterns
Send me a comment if you come up with any others, and let me know if you/your husband would consider wearing any of these?
