Today was a beautiful, sunny 80° day here in Chicago. Unfortunately…I only got to spend about an hour outside enjoying it. Even so, that didn’t stop me from dressing up in my first official springtime outfit. I must admit, I’ve been wearing my fair share of gym clothes and the color black lately. (Something I’m now committed to changing!) It felt good to get back into my typical free-flowing, drapey garb.
Yes, both the top and bottoms are statement pieces on their own; but at the same time, I feel they complement each other as well. Because the skirt has a colorful array of specks throughout its charcoal base, the ivory top is a nice neutral pairing. The simple wrap silhouette of the skirt doesn’t compete with the intricate sewn-down diamond detailing and pleating within the blouse. My patina drop-hoop earrings, brass elephant belt and riding boots add a slight ethnic flair to the ensemble, while the mix of lightweight silk chiffon, cotton, suede and leather all balance each other out.
What do you think? Would you wear this?
