In an effort to revamp the ailing French fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent is re-branding and dropping the Y from its ’YSL’ moniker; and the Couture House will instead carry the name ‘Saint Laurent Paris’. This change goes into effect with the Spring/Summer 2013 collections and will not apply to YSL shoes, handbags, accessories, or beauty & cosmetic products.

What are your thoughts on the name change?

Personally, I am NOT a fan.

Yves Saint Laurent is one of my top designer labels. The dramatic avant-garde style is definitely a contrast from my typical free-flowing bohemian choices, but  I still appreciate the design elements & construction that is executed in each  YSL creation…

“He understood the life of the modern woman, designing simple, wearable day clothes with a slightly masculine quality in beautiful fabrics, and for evening, clothes of unabashed luxury and sensuousness, enriched with fantasy and drama.”
