Fuzzy Wuzzy was a Bear…

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,

but Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.

If Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,

where was all his hair?

I’ll tell you – he had no hair because designers and retailers shaved it all off for their Fall 2012 collections! As I mentioned in the Trend Report, fur is forecasted to be one of the top textiles this season. And apparently Fuzzy Wuzzy didn’t go down without a fight, because the furry creations that came down the runway and are turning up in retail stores everywhere, are wild & untamed compared to the trimmed & tailored pelts of seasons past.

And what can I say – the wolly mammoth trend got me!!  I’m always a little apprehensive about fur vests because I find them hard to wear, especially in Chicago where the weather fluctuates so fast (it has to be cold enough to wear such a warm fabric like fur, but it can’t be too cold, because your arms are exposed). I have a brown fur vest that’s been in my closet for a few years now; (check out the different ways I styled in it my blog, https://expressthrudress.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/wardrobe-obsession-fur-vest/) but for this season, I wanted to update my wardrobe with something a little more playful – thus, bring on the Call to the Wild Furry Vest from Free People.

The patchy white & tan fur vest is frisky, fun and an edgy way to add the finishing touch to any ensemble. Here are a couple outfits I’ve already created with my new fuzzy topper…

The blue paisley-print underside (with pockets on both sides as well) makes this versatile vest the ideal piece whether you want to go full-on fur or just have a few pieces peak out from beneath. Check out a few ways I can wear the vest on the flip-side…
